About
Important changes are afoot at Deira Private School, which is well over 20 years old and set in 2009. With its current shift in ownership, following the acquisition of the highly regarded Chubby Cheeks Nurseries' landlords - with nurseries found in Al Taawun, Karama, Discovery Gardens, and Dubai Investment Park plus an additional 16 units across five emirates in the UAE, Deira Private School (DePS), can hope to see an acquisition in the school and change.
DePS has advanced very greatly over the past two years, with just 200 children enlisted at the time of its acquisition by the Chubby Cheeks team to close to 700 kids at the time of the DSIB review in 2022, catering for students from 3 years of age to 12 years of age.
Scholars come from 31 different ethnicities, with the largest single ethnicity group being Emiratis - of whom there were 119, who account for around one-fifth of the student residents. The most significant ethnic level, according to the report, is Arab.
A global staff includes 54 teachers from India, sponsored by 46 teaching aids. Staff turnover has increased immensely to 85%! This means a mass clear-out of the original teachers, who earlier were native English speakers from the UK, Australia, and South Africa. All are required to have a UK curriculum background.
The Chubby Cheeks Conservatory at DePS is found within the school and is staffed by a different Licensed Nurse and Nursery Director. All staff is eligible and Vaccinated. The nursery offers adaptable timings, full daycare, and transportation for children aged 2-4 years old.

In order to track student improvement and confirm that the curriculum is adjusted as required to support them, the school uses GL Progress Quizzes each year for English, Maths, and Science and the MOE review for Social Studies. For Arabic, the kids take the IBT quizzes. DePS also does CAT4 testing for all pupils from Year 2 upwards. Youngsters also complete PASS questionnaires to match their well-being.
DePS also offers varied options for students to discover their passion and discover their hidden talents through its Enrichment program. After School Clubs offer exercises such as karate, soccer, basketball, ballet, hip hop, football, netball, Zumba, yoga, gymnastics, public speaking, robotics, badminton, creative arts, music, debate, and coding.
